Children are warmly welcomed at Birmingham Weekender. Unless stated otherwise, we encourage youngsters to visit all our events – we recommend you download the brochure to pick out your favourites.
However some events have been specifically designed for children, including:

Welcome to a world of play and creativity, including yurt, mud kitchen and sensory area. All ages.
Thinktank Birmingham Science Garden– 10am-5pm
Free entry for Birmingham Weekender visitors. All ages.
Play With Clay at Sundragon Pottery, 2 Bowyer Street B10 9AS - 10am-6pm.
Roll up your sleeves and play with clay! All ages.
RoguePlay Theatre, Minerva Works, 158 Fazeley Street - Sat 2-6pm and Sun 12-6pm.
Have a go at circus skills including the hoop and trapeze. All ages.
Street Arts from Breakmission – look out for Hip-Hop, dance, DJing, street sports, street art and more across the weekend, around the Custard Factory and Floodgate Street.
On Saturday 5 October, we set up a Family Hub at Parkside, Birmingham City University, 5 Cardigan St, B4 7RJ with activities including:
11am-12.30pm: Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s Peter Pan Family Workshop - for children ages 5-11 years
1.15-3pm: Barber Institute of Fine Arts Curious Explorer Kits
Join the Barber Institute to make homemade tools for looking, listening and recording your day. All ages.
On Sunday 6 October the Family Hub moves BOA, 1 Grosvenor St, B4 7QD, with activities including:
Barber Collective explore - 12-2pm
Spend time with artist Navi Kaur and the Barber Collective. Ages 14+
Musical Theatre workshop at Birmingham Ormiston Academy – 11.30am-1pm & 2.-3.30pm
Get hands on experience of BOA’s Foundation course in Musical Theatre. Ages 14-18.
Games Development Workshop at Birmingham Ormiston Academy – 11.30am-12.30pm & 2-3pm.
For young people who are interested in digital arts and enthused by gaming. Ages 12-18.
Snow Queen Performance Workshop at Birmingham Ormiston Academy – 11.30am-12.30pm & 2-3pm
Have a go at the singing, dancing and acting from BOA’s Christmas show. Ages 8-14.
Baby changing and other facilities
There are baby changing facilities at Thinktank Science Museum, Parkside at Birmingham City University, Birmingham Coach Station (Digbeth High Street) and at various venues at The Custard Factory.
If you need a quiet place to feed your child, we recommend you visit our Yurt at the Parkside building (Birmingham City University).
Note that due to the post-industrial nature of many Weekender venues, you may encounter steps or need to leave a buggy in a safe space – please ask a volunteer for assistance
